As we’ve noted several times Hyperpreterism advocates a view “like” the Gnostics of the 2nd Century in redefining the nature of the resurrection of the dead along mystical lines.
Sam Frost over the last several weeks has been taking the few over at Preteristcosmos to task for their contradictory view of God. Sam has pointed out very effectively that the elect are numbered therefore a finite group. Sam has provided Scripture to back up his position effectively arguing that God knows all the all and that the claim of Green and company the elect are innumerable logically contradicts the nature of the who and what of God. Indeed Green, Hassert and Sullivan are arguing as a requirement of the hyperpreterist paradigm the elect are an infinite number requiring there to always be one more for God to know. What is ironic in all this is the preteristcosmonauts, (read that some where and couldn’t stop laughing) accuse Sam of putting God in man’s box while just the opposite is the case.

Roderick’s response is exactly why we are so willing to trade Frost for Edwards (I liken it to buying Manhattan Island from the Indians for a few bottles of cheap whisky, some beads, and a few bucks!). Edwards writes:

Seriously, any Christian associating with Roderick should call upon to him repent and to follow proper procedures for accusing an elder. Samuel Frost RIGHTLY says:
a puppet king would require a puppet. I am no puppet. Green’s remarks is an exercise in stupidity.
This has really gotten out of hand. But, I think I know how to straighten it out. I will contact Dr. Talbot and arrange for you, Rodericke Edwards to debate him in a public setting in Chicago. That isn’t too far from where you live. I’m sure Dr. Talbot would arrange to have Dr. Kenneth Gentry and Dr. Gary DeMar in attendance as well. That way we can listen 1st hand to you expose him on what is and is not an effective apologetic against heresy. Pothinus, Bishop of Lyon replies,

Green responds,
Yes, but Valentius explains in his treatise on the resurrection, “He put aside the world which is perishing; he transformed himself into an imperishable Aeon and raised himself up, having swallowed the visible by the invisible, and he gave us the way of our immortality. Then indeed, as the apostle said, ‘We suffered with him, and we arose with him, and we went to heaven with him.’” Pothinus, there is no need for you to suffer the penalty that will inevitably befall you should you not recant. Do the right thing, follow the teaching of Valentius then you and your folk will be spared from your impending death.
Pothinus eyes his adversary and states emphatically,
For me to die is gain, I cannot recant the hope that lies within me. May God have mercy on you.
